Are Your Tires Tired?
ALMOST AN ACCIDENT
I Just Realized I Need New Tires
IT’S TIME TO VISIT MY LOCAL POINT S TIRE & AUTO
Depending where you live, winter is officially here. There have been severe storms all over the country recently without any signs of slowing up. I was driving in the rain last week and was quite surprised at how well my little 4-cylinder hatchback was handling in the rain. I didn’t think about it at the time but those tires are above average with regards to wear-and-tear since I just purchased the car last year from a dealership with high standards.
Having said that, what literally felt about two-seconds later, a truck is turning left with me in a two-lane turn. He was on my right, it was pouring cats and dogs, and of course, I hear a weird slushy sound. It was a good thing I was in front of the truck by this time, because I saw his back end slide right out from under him. Luckily, he was able to quickly recover and there was no harm done.
Since I also have own truck, that has happened to me multiple times since I purchased it about 6 years ago. I usually weigh down my truck bed with water bags to keep that from happening. However, I just realized I need new tires. I have been putting it off for a while but since it’s about to start the snow season this week, I can’t wait any longer. Hopefully I won’t need to drive in the snow, but being prepared is very important. Don’t wait until you are stuck in the snow or on the side of the road to determine you need new tires.
The best advice I can give you is to look at ALL of your tires when you go outside next time. If there’s something that needs attention, hopefully you will figure it out before you get stuck in the freezing rain or snow.
