Toys for Tots Fundraising by the Marine Corp
Only 3 Days Until Christmas! Did you know Toys for Tots has been delivering toys to kids since 1947? That’s right! There has always been a need for people to help and the Marines have been helping kids for a very long time.
If you haven’t been to a Toys for Tots toy drive, both Marines and Jr. Marines help parents choose out of hundreds of toys for the perfect gifts for their kids. They walk side-by-side with each parent, carrying a large plastic bag and each person pays special attention to the parents the entire time.
It’s hard to imagine that so much care goes into getting toys for the kids of the local community as well as making the parents feel special during tough times. There is no one that is more caring and giving than those who are involved and who have donated to Toys for Tots. It’s amazing to see how many toys that have been donated.
There was a very large need to help families this year and many community leaders came together to ensure the success of the toy drive in Grants Pass. Even after a month of gathering toys, including donation boxes at many of the local businesses, they still managed to run out of toys after the first day.
The local radio station (KAJO – 99.7FM) made an announcement over the air to ask everyone in the community who could help, to help. Many people from all around the area came to the radio station to make cash donations and they were able to purchase enough toys to hand out the next day.
There are moments like these that make all the hard work and effort worth it. Not only knowing the kids, and families, will have a better Christmas, but also knowing the entire community will stand behind those who need lifting when they are down.

It’s not too late to donate. There will never be enough toys to go around. You can take toys to your local chamber of commerce (and some businesses that still have boxes) or you can donate directly online. It’s up to you.
