Over recent years Taco Tuesday made its way into mainstream and now people all over the world are talking about Tacos! Why are tacos so popular? Where did they originate from? What are the most popular tacos in America? To answer these fascinating questions, we took to the streets of Google to find out more.
Why are tacos so popular?
This answer is not an easy one to answer, but there are a few ideas circulating in the blogosphere that do provide with a few theories. First of all, their simplicity and ease to make. All you need is a taco, some meat and some cheese and you’ve got a taco. Secondly, tacos are extremely customizable and are full of endless combinations of flavors and possibilities. Third, one obvious shift is from the Internet. People just like the way they look. Lastly, in the United States, there has been a major cultural shift over the last few decades and the Hispanic population now has the number one seed with regards to influence, with over 60,000 restaurants Nationwide.
Where did they originate from?
The obvious answer would be Mexico, and while it’s accurate, the real questions are who, when, where, why, and how? Simple, in the 18th Century, Mexican workers in the Silver mines would allegedly take homemade tacos to work with them. They were an easy meal to transport from home to work, especially on a low budget.
